I spend entirely too much time thinking about the big picture…. when right in front of me is a moment in time I might just miss if I blink!
I admire daily the comings and goings of our customers…I have a chat here and there ~~ one is looking to build a house, the other has just moved into a house they just bought and yet another has lived here their entire life and what is most awesome is that we find common ground here at The Martyn House Coffee shop!
Its fun telling a life resident that we are the beginning or end of the Appalachian Trail and watch their response “REALLY” …yes indeed… then they tell me of a little known secret hike or Gilmer County treasure…. and we pass it on…..
Last weekend I took my first hike in a VERY long time—we went to Long Creek Falls…. the temperature was about 27 degrees perfect for those deep breath nose freezes! The air was clear—the ground crunchy, the rhododendrons were in sleep mode and we had the biggest smiles I have seem in a long time!!!
The trail is short about 1 mile in… but when we got to that falls I knew we could have been anywhere in the world! The icicles clung to the branches that hung over the water…the water was loud and crystal clear…there was a loud silence like I have not heard since my recluse cabin days in the wilderness……….we totally embraced that moment in time and vowed to do this at least once a week—so I am off to yet another adventure in the wilderness of this place we call home ……talk to ya tomorrow
